The Kingkiller Chronicle, #2.5.
A charming tale about Auri, who lives in the Underthing. I am so glad I got to read this story, the author states that he wasn't going to publish it as he thought no one would read it. I love the eight pages of soap making!!

Better still, the slow regard of silent things had wafted off the moisture in the air.
Archy McNally, #13.
I guess this is the last book. It has a maze-mystery!

Note: I must give in to the new century and get a cell phone however opposed I am to people walking about with the damn tings glued to their ears and yakking like magpies.

This shameless brazenness I attribute to women's lib, a movement that heralded the decline of Western civilization. Its fail is imminent.
A couple move to a new place so their kindergarten werewolf daughter can fit in. Well, stuff happens.

But Vivian liked adding up all the numbers. Not having numbers add up made her itch.

"The whole 'sacred Indian burial ground' thing is a trope invented by lazy racist horror writers, it's kind of offensive, no offense." -- Are you saying Stephen King is racist?

"So they all follow you because..."
"Because I'm their grandmother." She sniffed.
"And because you're terrifying."
"Well, naturally."

"You're right," Orphne sighed. "Cookies won't solve this. We need pizza."
Andy Carpenter, #2.
Lawyer defends his girlfriend who is charging with murdering a cop.
I was expecting more dog in the story, but it was OK.
Quote:
"Sorry to interrupt, Andy," she says. "At first I wasn't sure it was you. I thought it might be a rock star."
I put on my most wistful look. "For a moment there, I was."

...a twenty-seven-year-old Puerto Rican immigrant living in Passaic. -- It sounds odd to refer to a U.S. citizen as an immigrant, even though New Jersey IS another world.

We bring a loaf of bread to fed them -- Don't feed the ducks bread!

"Don't I know you from somewhere?"
I shrug. "Maybe. I went to NYU. What fraternity were you in?"
Growing up poor and an orphan in Tennessee during the Oxycodone era. Really good!!

I asked Mom one time how to fix the bed so it was covered up like you see them on TV, which she thought was dead hilarious.

Okay yes, there are the Gola Hams of this world, -- What is a Gola Ham??

"If you say so," I told her. "But will I always still be in a bottle?"
She laughed. "The world's a bottle, Demon. Gravity and shit. Don't expect miracles."

I thought a lot about my mom's months- and years- sober chips I used to screw around with like play money instead of the damn gold doubloons they were .

I saw a hoot owl. It was hiding, all the same colors as tree bark, but outed by a mob of loud crows that had their grudge against it -- I read that as "a mob of loud cows"...
The Salvagers, #2. I said I may not read the second one, and here I've gone and done it? My Libby doesn't have the third book, ain't that nice?
I think I liked this one a bit more better, maybe I'm starting to like the characters?
Quote:
..."at the end of a wench line..." -- What is a wench line??

Originally, it meant a light bulb that blinked because of a short circuit. -- Or an open circuit maybe?? Sorry, pet peeve!

"You guys are a bunch of assholes."
No one laughed.
"But ..." she began, "I guess that's why I fit in so well. Don't let me die out there."

Apparently, losing his arm had pissed him off pretty good, so at least he and Boots understood each other.
Archy McNally, #11. Written by Vincent Lardo. Archy is supposed to deliver the money to some guy selling a Truman Capote manuscript, but stuff goes wrong.

What cheek. It was that damn computer--that infamous information highway that was encouraging the young of the land to castigate their betters.
Well, I can certainly see why her books are so popular! Nicely written, amazing surprises. I'll probably end up reading more!
This one is about a newlywed couple looking to buy a house out in the boonies. It's winter, and they get stuck at the house all alone. Or are they?

Yes, we do have GPS, but that signal went out about ten minutes ago. -- GPS doesn't work like that. You don't need cell coverage to find yourself on a map. I've been geocaching with no cell coverage, the phone GPS works fine.
