I did not find this a "delightfully humorous" tale. Mildly amusing a few times, at best.

Dan invents some stuff, gets ripped off by his co-workers, does a 30-year Long Sleep (not with his cat), finds a guy with a time machine, goes back in time 30 years, does the Long Sleep again (but with his cat), marries a girl. There you go!
