Saw the movie the other night, thought I better read the book! Good story of very smart little girl.

Story of the discovery of a hoard of Roman silver by a fellow plowing a field, and more interestingly, how he didn't profit much from it.

Biography of John Harrison who built an extraordinary clock accurate enough to calculate the longitude of a ship at sea. Interesting story.

Thirteen fairy tales retold by authors I've actually heard of. Very good. I esspecially liked the girl who recommended learning how to use the card catalog for research as fairy godfathers were sometimes rather undependable.

Thriller with time-travel. Mostly thriller. Author pushes buttons of feelings towards helpless children. Pretty good story.

Goldie Bear deals with problems at her son's prep school.

Jessie and her older brother Evan enter into a war of lemonade stands at the ending of summer. I felt so sorry for little Jessie and her bewilderment at how cruel some of her classmates were to her. A great little book.

Ten stories (non-fiction) by authors of children's books telling how travel affected their lives. Very good.
